New ALA, New iBooks

A List Apart has lifted the curtain on its vastly improved new design and Apple has released new iBooks with G4s.

A List Apart has lifted the curtain on its vastly improved new design. While I am not usually a fan of narrow, fixed-width sites, it works well in this context. Archived articles are now more accessible with a blog-style nav on the right. The new version debuts with three fantastic articles from Joe Clark, Douglas Bowman and Dan Benjamin, which makes the long wait substantially less annoying.

In other new things, Apple updated their iBooks with G4 processors. While the laptops are still crippled with soldered RAM (grr) and inferior video cards, they make for a kick-ass portable for the designer on the go who has a hard time coughing up 3k for a PowerBook. With the G4, OSX will run much more smoothly, since the operating system relies on the Altivec instruction set not present on G3 chips.
